Grandparents

INTERGENERATIONAL CLASS PLANS

For the past ten years, Castleknock Community College has been inviting the Grandparents of First Years to participate in school life for one day each year.  The event has become one of the most enjoyable in the College calendar and is part of CCC's commitment to provide students with a holistic education.

The Intergenerational Class Plans were designed against a backdrop of a decision that grandparents should not be observers but participants in the events of the day.

The plans attempt to encourage the visitors to part with information which may otherwise be lost (see Home Economics and History for example).

As far as possible, each plan is self-sufficient in that all information is provided.  They will be added to in the years to come and indeed CCC welcomes other teachers to submit class plans for consideration (send to admin@castleknockcc.ie).
